Students from G1 to G4 from the Elementary section of Gresol International-American School visited the CRAM on April 3rd .
Within the set of activities planned in the curricular program of our students, we visited this time the CRAM (Foundation for the conservation and recovery of marine animals) in the Delta del Llobregat, in Platja del Prat.
The workshops that our students have done have been ‘The sea turtles arrive at CRAM’ and ‘The adventure of being a sea turtle’.
In the 1st activity, students have discovered how the sea turtles are, what do they eat, what happens to the turtles that arrive at the CRAM, and what can we do to help them. It has also contributed to developing the basic skills of the students, above all, through contents of the area of Natural Environment Knowledge: a) initiation to scientific activity; b) the world of living beings.
And also from the Social Studies Dept: learning to be responsible citizens in a global world. In the 2nd activity, students have learned about the diversity of marine turtles in the Mediterranean. They have debated in small groups how these animals live, how they are and how they reproduce. They have also discovered what threats they suffer from the observation, manipulation of materials and the analysis of possible real cases. They have reflected the reason for these threats and the possible solutions they may have, and above all, they will think what each of them can do.
In addition, with the guided tour of the Center, they have been able to learn about these animals first hand, to understand better the CRAM’s action in its rescue and recovery, listening to the stories of the patients.
All our students, after this visit, have experienced a significant change in the awareness of preserving our natural environment.
