It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of GRESOL International-American School. I feel extremely privileged to be joining the Gresol family and indeed to have worked within the educational sector as a teacher for around twenty years and as a Senior Leader for over ten of those.
Around half of my professional career has been spent leading all through (2 to 18 years of age) international schools within Europe, the Middle East and Africa, therefore I have experience within the American Common Core Curriculum, the English National Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate. My first posting as an international leader was within an international school in Castellon. Both my husband and I fell in the love with the country, the people and the culture, so much so that we now call a little village outside of Castellon home!
My educational journey began many years ago in the United Kingdom, where I taught English Literature, Language and Humanities within Secondary Schools in Manchester and London whilst also being a coach and mentor to new entrants into the profession. After which I broadened my horizons to work within Europe the Middle East and Africa. Within the Middle East I led an International school in Qatar catering to 1,800 students aged between 2 and 18 with over one hundred and twenty international teachers. We, as a team, were overjoyed to be awarded the coveted 5-year Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Accreditation from the United States, an accreditation similar to that of Cognia.
Before which, I was Principal of an International School within Ukraine, with around 800 students in our flagship campus and over 1,500 throughout the whole school group. During my tenure, working as a team, we achieved IB World School Status – both PYP and IB Diploma alongside COBIS Membership. However, my most recent posting was that of Founding Principal of an International School within Morocco. As an educational team of twenty-two members of staff we literally built the school from the ground up, developing our curriculum to suit the needs of our students whilst writing and implementing all assessment and reporting strategies alongside policies and procedures. We initially opened our doors to only 63 students, however that steadily increased and we tripled our numbers as our reputation grew.
Moving forward, throughout the forthcoming academic year and beyond, our primary focus will be to continue our work with Cognia, thus demonstrating and sustaining our commitment to continuous improvement and high achieving learner outcomes. As you may be aware, Cognia recognition is based upon a set of rigorous research-based standards and evidence-based criteria. Our school self-reflection process examines the whole school, namely our policies, programs, practices, learning conditions, and cultural context–to determine how well the parts work together to carry out our schools’ vision whilst meeting the needs of every learner. With a lot of hard work and dedication, from all members of the school community, our goal will be to continue meeting and exceeding those standards resulting in a valuable recognition of excellence.
Indeed we are a school that is full of optimism about its future and providing the very best opportunities for our students. We are a school that aims to ensure our students succeed academically as they develop, grow and mature into young adults. Thus allowing our graduates to become life long learners and global citizens. Whilst we have high academic expectations and ambitions for our students, we also know that for them to succeed, we need to provide a caring, supportive and challenging environment in which they can grow and flourish. We want to truly educate our students so that a graduate of Gresol International-American School is a highly educated, well-rounded human being, capable of making the most of what life has to offer.
I very much look forward to meeting you all, welcoming you to our school and indeed to all that our forthcoming school year has to offer.
With very best wishes,
