Extracurricular activities are the perfect complement to the formal education of our children to allow them to develop their natural talent and enjoy it. At the beginning of the course, almost all parents have just chosen which activities will occupy the free time of their sons and daughters, either when they leave class or at noon. If you have any questions, at Gresol International American School we want to offer you some considerations:
- The first thing is to enjoy, although enjoying does not mean not learning. On the contrary, it is important to reinforce that learning is fun. For this reason, at Gresol International American School, we design a program of extracurricular activities that add value while having fun.
- It is not about taking up time. Traditionally, extracurriculars have been understood as a way to entertain children while parents complete their obligations. At Gresol, we defend that extracurricular activities are an opportunity to incorporate new knowledge, new skills, or better abilities.
- Extracurricular activities are a complement or reinforcement. They can serve as a complement to the training provided in the school or reinforcement in subjects that may be difficult to follow.
- They are, without a doubt, the ideal formula to explore the multiple intelligences of each one and to detect the talent of the children early. Thanks to extracurriculars activities, we can develop and enhance those innate abilities or skills in each boy or girl: music, sports, language, science, mathematics, nature, spatial conception or interpersonal relationships can wake up thanks to the activities we choose.
At Gresol International American School, we have designed, once again, a program of extracurricular activities to wake up, foster and enhance multiple intelligences without having to move from our school and to make the most of the time available to our children. That is the reason we propose activities that, fundamentally, take place during noon, and that range from chamber music to creative dance, through the practice of any instrument, language learning or multiple sports disciplines.
Besides the traditional sports in our facilities (football, baseball, volleyball, basketball, figure skating), for this course, we have incorporated modern dance as a discipline that relates art to body expression. Meanwhile, in the language section, we make a great commitment to German.
In the science subject, in collaboration with Play Code, we introduce an extracurricular activity that focuses the study under the umbrella of the STEM methodology (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). In this way, children will have the possibility to learn the language of the 21st century, through subjects such as robotics or 3D printing.
Another of our most outstanding developments is education in nutrition and healthy cooking, in line with our vocation for comprehensive training and committed to the well-being of people. At Gresol International American School, we aim to make students aware of the importance of eating healthy, taking care of themselves, and having a balanced and healthy life.
During this week, students enjoy the possibility of doing demonstrations (Free Trials) of those sports activities that interest them most. Besides, our offer of extracurriculars is alive, and we work on the incorporation, as of the second quarter, of new activities related to technology, visual arts, and creativity. We will be happy to receive new requests!
