On Monday, March 11, we met more than 20 IB schools of Catalonia and Andorra at the IBDP Coordinators Summit, held in St Peter’s School, in Barcelona.
This 1st meeting has been very enriching and allowed us to share experiences and concerns of all the professionals and management teams of the IB schools in the territory. The creation of this ‘IB community of schools’ is important because an infinite number of possibilities and resources are taught to us.
The four key points of the meeting were:
The information: an overview of the IB community has been given to us and we have also been informed about the latest developments in the Programs presented by the International Baccalaureate Organization.
The inspiration: from the experiences of several schools we have been able to create a situation of debate where not only have been solutions to some doubts but also has made it possible to give birth to new projects.
The extension: we all know about the extension of the IB programs around the world, but knowing who is part of a geographic area has allowed us to agree on concerns, desires and allow us to go deeper from the theory to the practice.
The support: in this workshop, it has been possible to go to detail and deal with specific topics of the Diploma Program: exams, internal and external evaluations, different subjects, moderation criteria, etc.
The conference was led by Antonio Muñoz, head of the IB World School Department.
It has been a pleasure to share this day with all the schools, thanks to the wonderful welcome and organization of St. Peter’s School, and we have already scheduled a workgroup so that there is continuity in a proposal so interesting and beneficial to all.
