Georgina Font, Marc Rodríguez, Miquel Rovira, Roger Salvá and Joan Vila, together with Professor Ms. Eugènia Cicaré, participated last week for the first time in the debate series organized by the Universitat Autònoma de Bellaterra (UAB).
In the words of Joan Vila these were the sensations:
“Five students found ourselves on the 1st day in the immensity of the Autònoma community with more nerves than anything else. 24 were the present institutes and the sessions of debate in groups began. We were lucky that our first meeting was in the afternoon and we were able to prepare the debate throughout the morning.
The theme was common to all: Are borders between countries necessary? And the positions could be either in favor or against. We won our defense and excited and surprised we met in the next phase.
On the 2nd day, it seemed that we already had everything more by the hand and we had the debate in the morning … defending the position in favor and we won again with higher scores!
The last debate, which made us pass through the quarterfinals, was intense and very tight, the winners of the Can Roca Institute team … who were finally the absolute winners of this debate contest?
The experience for us has been very enriching and full of good sensations … before we are already preparing new debate contests to participate … Maybe soon we will see at the Rovira i Virgili University, with its APQUA project in a new contest of debate! Joan Vila – 2nd grade High School student at GIAS.
From school, we just need to continue encouraging these students and the teachers who are always at their side giving support and encouragement … CONGRATULATIONS!
