This past Saturday, May 4th, we celebrated the 1st American Sports Day at GIAS! More than 300 people have visited us throughout the sports morning full of activities and emotions.
Six have been the baseball teams that have come through the Catalan Baseball Federation: Viladecans, Sant Boi Anacletos, Sant Boi Patufets, Hercules, Manresa Dracs, Gavà and the two teams of the school, GIAS ‘A’ and GIAS ‘B’. We have seen some very exciting games but, above all, full of respect and fair-play.
We also had the opportunity to play basketball in 3×3 games, always dynamic and fun. A mixture of the components of the GIAS team and two other teams of Sabadell schools have delighted the public, directed and advised at all times by Sheila Dixon, G9 teacher at GIAS and also an active player of the first team FC Barcelona … what a privilege!
In the morning we have rounded it up with soccer matches with the smallest of the house. The students from PK4 to G1 have enjoyed it! Throughout the morning we have also been able to participate in two community service actions following the essence of the school’s educational project.
Everyone who has been able to donate blood through the Bank of Blood and Tissues of Barcelona and the campaign carried out by the G7 students under the slogan: IF YOU CAN, DO IT … Give blood! and we have also participated with MUA Solidari and the LAO Foundation, together with the Hospital de Sant Joan de Déu for the fight against the Childhood Cancer.
We want to thank from here not only the participation of the students of the school, the players of the other visiting teams, their parents … but also the invaluable collaboration of a large part of the staff of GIAS since without them It would not have been possible to prepare an event of this magnitude!
BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE and we hope to see you again very soon!
